History
Tecnópole was formally opened on 10th October in 1992 and started to develop its activity in March 1993 thanks to the effort of the Xunta de Galicia (Galician Autonomous Goverment) which counted on the support of the three Galician Universities, the Diputación de Ourense (Regional Government of Ourense) and the municipal governments of Ourense and San Cibrao das Viñas.
It was started out due to the need to create a reference environment in Galicia aiming at taking in, support and strengthen business initiatives of a strong innovating nature, initiatives that should bet on technology, research and development as the cores of their activity.
At present the following institutions take part in the management organ of Tecnópole – the Parque Tecnolóxico de Galicia, S.A. managing society –:

- Diputación de Ourense (3,89 %)
- Universidad de Vigo (2,00 %)
